Mandrake 9.1 Sys V-Init Editor

I have a strange problem. I don't have my sound working, but it has happened before, so I know how to fix it. The only problem is, the way I activate it is by using the Sys V-Init Editor. Whenever I click on it, it will act like it is trying to open it, but then it just stops. Did I install something wrong, or am I just clicking on something wrong? Please help, I'm tired of not having sound!!

Thank-you.
