Probably the wrong place to post this question, but does anyone know of a way to get Lxdoom running in fullscreen under Ubuntu 5.04 (i386). It runs great in the default tiny screen but the screen size slider in options doesn't seem to make any difference to the screen size itself!!

When I run lxdoom, it starts small and then goes fullscreen by default.

There should be an option, "Fullscreen yes/no".

It's driving me mad! As i said there is an option for screen size using a slider, but it has no effect. The screen is about 4" x 3" and i can't increase it!

To get lxdoom wider, start it with this command: lxdoom -width 640 -height 400

I've not been able to get it to run at fullscreen, though I'm sure it's possible. I usually set lxdoom to a slightly lower resolution than what my screen is set to. This way, I can see the ammo and health status bar. If you don't care about that, you can set it to the exact same resolution that your screen is set to.

For instance, my screen resolution is set at 1024X768; so, I run lxdoom with the command lxdoom -width 800 -height 600. I tried running it with the command lxdoom -width 1024 -height 768, but found it cut the status bar off (it worked okay, though). You could play around with these figures. After you've run the command, lxdoom will remember the setting automatically (you won't need to specify the length or width anymore).

There are different rendering modes, I believe. I think SDL gives full screen, whereas X something or another, and GP something or another, gives the window look. All these options are available in the updated prboom (not prdoom). For some reason, prboom does not work on my machine; so, I stick with lxdoom (using freedoom).

If you're using Debian (and/or one of its derivatives), you can get Quake to work in fullscreen mode. Just search for the Quake packages, and install. Other distros likely have it too. Good luck.

--later edit: I got prboom working on my machine, and it does have fullscreen mode. It still needs to be started, the first time, with prboom -width 640 -height 400, afterwhich it will render itself in fullscreen mode.
