Looking for a voice recognition software

Hi there,

I am running on Mint Debian edition, and looking for a working voice recognition software, not necessarily recognize commands just word by word is enough, better support multi language, but pure English would be fine too, any suggestion ?

I tried Whisper which is one of the most recommended such applications, but it doesn't even detect my mic and headphone, I tried with analogy input and USB audio and Bluetooth none worked, all except Bluetooth the mic recognized by a voice recorder software, any comment ?

I'd be tempted to continue with Whisper and fix the audio issues. Used to be you really needed a good headset to get quality results. I spent many hours trying to get ViaVoice to learn my speech.

can you use your mic with other apps? (like chat programs or anything else?)
