Looking for a lightweight GTK TV tuner card viewer

Well hi.

I'm going to reinstall Linux again in a few days and decided to make my desktop as responsive and fast as possible. Going for Xfce on Slackware 12. I'm looking for a app with what I could watch TV from my hauppage pci tuner card. For now, I've used tvtime but I hate the menu system and it gliches out sometimes.

Well long story short: Is there a lightweight tv player? Bonus if still maintained.

Tell me more about mplayer's abilities with tv tuning. How do you change channels for example, how does it keep the channels organized. Any good GTK frontends?

I was meaning to take mplayer for my generic movie player anyway, sounds good if I can kill two birds with one stone.

i haven't personally used mplayer as a tv viewer. I know its possible because people will do it to test their tvtuner cards in mythtv howto's

im pretty sure all your really doing is accessing /dev/tv0 or something similar when using any of these programs. all three of these programs have both gtk and qt<not sure about vlc> variants of their front-ends.
