Question Loading Limp and Stars on Suse

Hi all. I am completely new to Linux and installed Suse 10.1 just today. I noticed that I have no DVD playing software and Kaffeine won't play the video formats that it is supposed to.

Linux magazine suggested downloading Limp, so I did. However, either the installation in the magazine doesn't work, or I'm too dumb to use Linux.

Could someone with some experience here help me out? I hate to think I spent all that money for a DVD-RW and won't be able to use it with anything other than Windows.

Also, I noticed that Mandriva had a program called Stars (I think); it plotted out all the stars and looked really helpful for Astronomy buffs. It isn't on Suse, though- does anyone know where I can get it and how to install it?

Also, will Power DVD work on a Linux machine or not?

Thanks for any help.

DVDs

Playing commercial DVDs

Go into Yast and search for and uninstall 'xine' if it is
installed.
Then goto http://cambuca.ldhs.cetuc.puc-rio.br/xine and
download and install the .rpm files for the following

1) w32codec-0.52-1.i386.rpm
2) libxine1-1.0.1cvs-050610.i686.rpm (or i586)
3) xine-ui-0.99.3cvs-050610.i586.rpm
4) libdvdcss-1.2.8-2.network.i386.rpm
You may also be able to find these files on the Packman
servers.
For legal reasons Suse cannot include the files which
enable you to play encrypted DVDs, so you have to install
them yourself.

For astronomy go into Yast->software management and search
for Celestia.
