Linux Terminal frozen

Hello,
I have Ubuntu 22.04.4 LTS and try to install Virtual Box.
Following <https://ubuntuhandbook.org/index.php/2023/12/install-virtualbox-ubuntu-2204/>, I got to make request
<sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list.d/virtualbox.sources>.
The Terminal came to

< GNU nano 6.2 /etc/apt/sources.list.d/virtualbox.sources

^G Help ^O Write Out ^W Where Is ^K Cut ^T Execute >

and stands frozen for hours.
Any idea how to speed it up? Thanks

Igor Evgen,

I always find it simpler to use gedit as opposed to nano, but that is just a personal preference.

Ubuntu Jammy may already have gedit installed.

If not, install gedit:

Code:
sudo apt install gedit
That command you referred to will now be:

Code:
sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list.d/virtualbox.sources
It should open an empty document, into which you should paste the following lines:

Code:
Types: deb
URIs: https://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/debian
Suites: jammy
Components: contrib
Architectures: amd64
Signed-By: /etc/apt/keyrings/oracle-virtualbox-2016.gpg
Click on Save.

Click on X to close the file.

Then continue with the rest of the instructions (verify the sources file by running command................).

nano is a text editor, it is waiting for your input.

Thank you.
Got from the Terminal:

** (gedit:6400): WARNING **: 12:19:13.234: Set document metadata failed: Setting attribute metadata::gedit-spell-language not supported

** (gedit:6400): WARNING **: 12:19:13.235: Set document metadata failed: Setting attribute metadata::gedit-encoding not supported

** (gedit:6400): WARNING **: 12:19:30.314: Set document metadata failed: Setting attribute metadata::gedit-position not supported

But that's another story.
Thanks again.

Igor Evgen,

That (gedit:6400): WARNING always comes up. It is nothing to worry about.
