The only "random line of code" you have posted relates to an error detecting/reading the floppy drive. Have you got a floppy on this machine? If so, disconnect from the m/b and try again.
It would really help if you could post those "random lines of code". They are actually the syslog/klog output !
well see the random lines of code are going so fast it's impossible for me to read it..
I can't even get ANY version of Linux installed...
over the past few days, I've tried Mint, Ubuntu, Fedora Core 7, PCLinuxOS2007 (which INSTALLED but had an error code(?), and I'm currently trying Xubuntu (which idk why my computer isn't old at all...)
I dont know what the problem is because I dont have the bootlog (what you call random lines of code).
Can you take a picture of the screen at the point is freezes, using a cellphone or something, and post here.
And no, the problem is not because it is not second-hand. I asked if it was second-hand (i.e. used or not new) because it could have been damaged or broken and sold to you in that state. But this probably isnt the case here and the fact that Vista installs yet linux does not, is strange.
My friend (a fellow Linux user) came over and "randomly reconfigured everything"... those are in his words haha. technically what he did was ENABLE my VGA and now I only have 480MB RAM but hey it's better than no Linux!
I currently have Ubuntu 7.04 installed and am updating to 7.10.
