Hey guys,
i just recompiled my kernal, I had kernal 2©2©15-3©0 which i guess is the modified kernal for redhat Abit Gentus 3©0©©©well any ways© I recompiled the kernal and when i went to boot up it gave me a bunch of errors that said "Unresolved Symbules in /lib/modules/misc" for every file that was in /lib/modules/misc and it would hang and not boot up¥it didnt freeze though¤© So I recompiled the kernal again and i took out "enable loadable module support" and everything worked perfectly, 2©4©0 booted up perfect, it had sound support© EVERYTHING worked, But my cable modem! I have a KNE100TX Kingston Ethernet card which it wont even reconize© How can I make the new kernal see that i have the card installed?

BTW I have a ABIT SE6 I815 motherboard with a ATA100 15gb IBM 7,200RPM harddrive, and when I ran "hdparm -t /dev/hda" i got 64 MB in 1©83 seconds = 34©97 MB/sec with my old kernal© And with my new kernal i get 64 MB in 3©89 seconds = 17©93 MB/sec© Why is this? I thought kernal 2©4©0 was optimized for the i815 motherboard© Is there a flaw in this benchmark or does the 2©4©0 kernal suck for my motherboard?

thanks,
Stimm
