linux in the vmware cannot connect to the internet

i installed radhat linux in the vmware ,but when i type the command "mii-tool" ,it displayed

"SIOCGMIIPHY on 'eth0' failed:Operation not supported
no MII interfaces found"

i want to know why it happens and how to resolve it .

Usually vmware have it's own virtual netcards... try to do normal commands at root terminal inside virtual machine..

# ifconfig ( without arguments will show you interfaces state)
# lspci (will show virtual hardware)

and remember that vmware uses connections among virtual machines and the host as machines in a lan, it haves also own dhcp server, so your virtual machine must have already an ip number.. check virtual machine configuration and vmware setup.
