Linux for the playstation one

Hello-
I know that there have been many ports of Linux to the playstation 2, but I recently got a new version of the playstation one, and was wondering if there was a linux port to it, like a live cd of some kind(since these don't have harddrives, where you can have a harddrive with the ps2).
I looked on google, but didn't find anything relating to the PS1.
Anybody know of any? O yea, I heard that the processor speed in a PS2 is 733 Mhz (back like two years ago), what do you think the speed is in the new version of the play station one? Thanks.

the speed of a ps 2 is like 350. The xbox is 733. I'd check the netbsd website for a port to ps1. If they don't have it i doubt anyone does.

I've got good news and I've got bad news.

The good news is, that there is (was) distro for the PS1 called Runix. I was going to try it once but never did.

The bad news is that, well, look for yourself here

I'll keep looking and see if I can find a mirror or something that might have it.

EDIT: Sorry to tell you this, but it appears to be completely gone. I can't find any mirrors and as the above link proves the site is no longer up or accessable. What a sad loss. You might try some Playstation forums and see what they suggest.

It has a RISC 32 bits with a clock speed of 33.8 MHZ. I also saw Linux for it before, can't find it any more either... The processor is called "R3000A 32 bit RISC", if you want search on netbsd's page or any other place.

The only thing you can do with your PSone today is play PSone games (duh). It can also run a few emulators (as NES and Mastersystem) really, really poorly. I've seem a tool for PSone a while ago that you could use to play mpeg movies, but it worked only on PSX not PSone (the smaller version), but that is hard to find nowadays :\

Now if you are up to some real fun, get an Xbox, you'd be surprised with the amount of freaky stuff you can do with a modded Xbox...
