Linux File Server, Can it also backup Windows PC's Across the network

Backstory.

I have used Linux ( Suse, Ubuntu , Red Hat ) different times for different things. My newest goal is File Server. Here are the specs, I have already made the box, just choosing the OS here is what it needs to be able to do from order of most important to least.

Specs;
  • CPU- AMD Phenom IIx4 945
  • Ram- 4GB DDR 3 1600mhz
  • Mobo- Asus M4a79xtd EVO
  • Video- ATI 4650
  • PSU- Corsair 650w Modular
  • Hard Disks- 6x 2 TB WD Extreme HDD's (In hardware Raid 5)
  • NIC- Intel Dual Rj45 Gigabit Server Adapter
  • Opperating System- Unknown
Overkill I know, I actually do need the Server storage, But most parts are recycled from a replaced Gaming Computer

What I need it to do;
  • Store Backups initiated by Windows 7 PC's (Full Image Backups over the Network)
  • Store a large database of files including; MKV, AVI,MPEG 4, DOC
  • Stream Files to Any opperating system on my network
  • Maintain a running Apache /MySql FTP
  • Allow Remote Desktop Connections

I would like to know what if any distro can do all those things and would be the best/ easiest. My biggest concern would be if I could continue to do my Image backups from the other PC's . Please let me know if this can be accomplished.

I know I can do all these things with Windows, and I already have the knowledge and resources to do it. Please let me know what the benefit would be for doing it with Linux.

Thanks in Advance,

James
