After modifying /etc/fstab IT WORKS!!!!! Thanx a lot!

Just a last question:

is it normal to have these two lines in /etc/fstab

/dev/hda8 / ext2 defaults 1 1
/dev/hda8 swap swap pri=42 0 0

In other words, should not the swap partition be different from the root partition?

hi there

frankly i haven't seen such a entry in fstab

/dev/hda8 swap swap pri=42 0 0
maybe they are specifyinga chunk of the /dev/hda8 as swap partiton

well i am happy that it has finally worked for u ...

enjoy
