Linux Disc Imaging Backup Solutions For Kernel 2.6+
I would appreciate it if someone could point me to a good, workable solution for 2.6+ kernel systems. I've looked at a bunch of disc imaging software like Acronis True Image, PartImage, G4L, dd, mondo, device image, and others... unfortunately, a number of those packages only work well with 2.4x kernels. those that should work with 2.6+ kernels or pretty much anything, like Acronis True Image and Device Image are either not free or do not skip over unused space.
I've looked at dd to try to do this by filling unused sectors with zeros, but that takes a long time.
I have approximately 4.6GB of data spread across 3 partitions on 1 physical drive that I would like to backup onto a DVD, including the boot sector, so that I can simply boot from a CD and have it ask me to put in the DVD and it will restore my system completely, so I'll have a complete working system upon reboot.
Is there any way to do this with a 2.6+ kernel based system?
If anyone could point me to something that can do this I'd greatly appreciate it.
