Extracting the installation resources from the installer archive...
Configuring the installer for this system's environment...
No Java virtual machine could be found from your PATH
environment variable. You must install a VM prior to
running this program. so i did some checking and i found my java is installed in root/usr/java and it is version j2re1.4.1! would someone please explain to me in the simpilist of terms how to fix that problem, the only shell commands i know is what i have saw by looking trying to fix that, so please tell me EXACTLY what ineed to type to fix this thanks!

j-ray, just because I gave an answer doesn't mean it's the one they wanted. I might be mis-understanding the question, or even not answering the question correct. So it's ok if you post another solution, or a better answer, if it's going to help It would at least be better than "oh, already answered - forget it"

hi MasterC,
this is a misunderstanding. the thread is posted twice and i gave already a long explanation on the other thread. it's in the same list in here. i realised this when i was writing an answer cause the question seemed kinda familiar. then i simply didn't know how to get the new answer erased.

but you're right some way. usually it would be strange style to give an answer like that.
cheers, jens
