Angry kppp won't start up

Hello,
When I try to start Kppp from the Gnome Desktop menu, the dialog box never comes up even though I log in as superuser. And when I open a shell with the following command, ps -A | more, i can see that the Kppp process is running. But when I log into the KDE Desktop and select Kppp, it comes right up with no problem and I have no problem dialling up. Also, if I open a shell in the Gnome Desktop and type "kppp &", the Kppp dialog box comes up just fine and I'm able to dial out, it's just not coming up when I go thru the menu or from the icon I've added to the panel. I should also let you know that before I installed the Ximian Gnome Desktop, i had no problem starting the Kppp from the Gnome Desktop. Appreciate any help that I can get to resolve this.

And what do the settings or properties of the one in the Gnome panel show you ?? Have you tried to edit them ?? Maybe remove it and create a new one ??

Clearly from what you've explained, its not the program, its the launcher from the menu..

When selecting the properties on the icon I have on the panel, under the basic tab, and on the name line, it has KPPP;
on the command line, it has kppp % i % m, and on the typr line, it has application. Under the advanvec tab, in a window with three columns entitled " Language Name Comment " are the following; respectively:
xx xx
eo Interretkonektilo
KPPP
