Kppp user permissons config
Hi, this is my first post here and hopefully it wont be my last.
I'm currently running Debian 3.0 woody (hard drive install of Knoppix)
My problem is that currently only root can dialup via Kppp, any other user has to open a console, enter the root password and then start Kppp, which is ok for myself. but a little puzzling for my wife. (Plus I'm not keen on my root password being common knowledge)
I've altered the user permissions of Kppp in /usr/bin and also the user permissions of my modem in /dev/ttyS0. this has had the effect of getting the modem to dial out as an ordinary user but then the ppp daemon dies unexpectedly.
I'm wondering if anyone knows how to over come this or If i'm missing an easier method all together.
Also can anyone recommend a program that has a GUI front end for System configuration (I'm used to these from experience with Suse, Red hat and mandrake and I'm finding debian a little hard to manage, though far stabler)
Thanks
