I installed an old parallel port scanner and got it working with SANE. I then installed Kooka, which worked fine for a while. Unfortunately I no longer have a visble interface on the Kooka GUI, just a grey window with a few frames and a bit of text...
I started Kooka from console (as user) and noted the error messages:
[zorlac@localhost zorlac]$ kooka
kdecore (KAction): WARNING: KAction::initPrivate(): trying to assign a shortcut (Ctrl+I) to an unnamed action.
kdecore (KAction): WARNING: KAction::initPrivate(): trying to assign a shortcut (Ctrl+H) to an unnamed action.
QLayout: Adding QComboBox/PREVIEWFORMATCOMBO (child of VButtonGroup/unnamed) to layout for Previewer/unnamed
I get exactly the same problem, having upgraded from SuSE 8.2 to 9.2
I can get other windows, such as image preview etc., but the main Kooka GUI, which would normally show the thumbnail of the scanned image, plus "preview" and "final" scan buttons are missing.
When I do a /sbin/lsusb
- it seems that the USB scanner is picked up OK.
similarly, checking that sane and the kde scan package being installed comes out OK....
I went back and did a thorough check of my install. My scanner is a simple Epsom 1260, so I selected
1260 Perfection and a 1260 and ran through the same procedures. When I clicked on "test" in Yast2, no test page was scanned...
I have installed xsane and ran this, but I get a "no devices available" message.
