Konqueror sidebar

I use Konqueror for file browsing. Is there a way to make the sidebar/navigation panel permanently show up?

I know you can hit SHIFT-F9, but is there a way to make it come up automatically when I click on 'Home' and want to look at my files?

Thanks.

(dont know if this'll help - i use KDE 3.2, MDK10...)

save Konqueror state (Save View Profile)

You can try saving the view profile.

Set konqueror up the way you want.
directory you're viewing, tabs, sidebar open, etc.

click (or I have a shortcut key* combo set as meta+s) Settings > Save View Profile > highlight File Manager > Save.

this is how i've done it. the only thing I cant get to save is the width of the sidebar, even having edited the konquerorrc file...

Also look at adding the taskbar widgit Konqueror Profiles, it will allow you to launch konqueror by Profile, assuming you save / create some of your own views (settings>save view profiles)...

*configuring a shortcut for konqueror:
Settings > Configure Shortcuts > (search for save) > assign a key combination to 'Save View Profile As (again, i use Meta+S)...

another thing you can do is, setup your desktop including where you want konqueror (size, position, etc) the go to kickoff > Leave > click 'Save Session'. *NOTE: to enable 'save session' go to System Configure > Startup and Shutdown > Session Management > select: 'Restore manually saved session'.. Reboot. (DON'T Shutdown after you 'save session' the first time. In my experience, it doesn't save.. don't know why, but its' been that way for a few years, for me.)

Hope this helps.
Landis.
