hey all,
I have 3rd party software to help me "hide" programs on my windows machine. I did something and it will bring me to a login screen and prompt for password when there is none.
I thought to use knoppix to remove the file that holds these restrictions.
I have mounted /dev/hda2 many times into /mnt/hda2 first as write only (default). I tried to remount as write and also use right click to change to write possible.
A few times i could actualy change the permissions of the file in question and the owner (root) (yes i was root) had rw permissions. When i went to rm the file,i get
rm: cannot remove `./<filename>`: Operation not permitted.
I also could not use any editor to edit the file?????
I need to be able to at the least, edit the file, and at best remove the file.
The file has an extension of ".rst"
What filesystem is it? If it is ntfs then you will need to use captiventfs to write (in the pengiun menu in recent knoppixes i think). For captiventfs you need certain files from an xp sp1 system, i don't think sp2 will work.
There is a gui setup in one of the menus. You need to load the windows drivers (ntfs.sys and ntoskrnl.exe i think, not from sp2) to use it. Or try running "captive-install-acquire". It was only added in 3.4 or 3.6.
