Kmail ' Connection to host broken ' with large files from Gmail

I've configured Kmail with Gmail correctly and I can almost use my mail. I can take and send e-mails but the problem is that I cannot download large files(for my pstn connection they are big) bigger than 3 megabytes and I've enabled the feature to check which mail I should download and I have to go to gmail from my web browser to download such files, offcourse that's not the reason I'm using kmail.
The error is simple ' Connection to host gmail is broken'
I'm using kmail 1.8 (not that it really matters in this problem)
Has to do anything with encryption? or default settings that kmail starts with?
