kernel profiling


Could any of you please give me some guidance to profiling in red hat? Is there any in built profiling tools? Or is there any software available?
What I basically want is, when a user application is run, how much time is spent in each system call.

I don't know exactly but gdb and maybe ptrace package might get you going?
