kernel 2.6.3 crash the php4-mysql

fellas,

I compile the kernel 2.6.3 in my debian distro, and everything is fine, but i cant connect to mysql through php (call to undefined function mysql_connect()). The packages (mysql-server,mysql-client,php4-mysql) have be installed.

Comment: on my kernel 2.4, the mysql_connect work on.

Anyone have a idea to solve this, please?

Thumbs down same problem

I have the same problem. I updated my kernel from 2.4.17 to 2.6.5. PHP-mysql works fine in 2.4.17 and wont connect at all in 2.6.5.
I have extension=mysql.so in my php.ini file but my phpinfo() has no mysql anywhere on the page except under my ./configure --with-mysql
I can get into mysql through a bash shell, and mysql is running on port 3306 (i did a port scan) but php (and java) wont connect to mysql.
ps aux returns this as a process running
/usr/sbin/mysqld --basedir=/usr --datadir=/var/lib/mysql --user=mysql --pid-file=/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.pid --skip-locking --port=3306 --socket=/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock

Is it possible that I did not insert some module needed for this connection in version 2.6.5?

My problem was that I compiled PHP from source and a library definition had been altered in the Debian version of the package. apt-get install php4 [--reinstall] fixed my problem.

Angry

Hi, using kernel 2.6.8-1, I'm experiencing the same problem. Has anyone found a solution yet?
