Kernel 2.4.x menuconfig problem


I am using 2.2.19, and i want to upgrade to 2.4.x for large file support, i have the source, did a make mrproper, linked /usr/src/linux to /usr/src/linux-2.2.10, but when i do a make menuconfig, it doesn't show the new features, IE resierFS support firewire, any ideas? it driving me crazy!!

well if it the tree is there, link linux to linux-2.4.x.
