KDE- Keyboard Beeps with I type-No Text Output Though

Strangest thing, I am running RHFC 1 using the Gnome Desktop, which has been working fine all year. I rebooted today and the keyboard stopped working in Gnome. It is fine at the terminal prompt ( not in a term session inside of Gnome, however ), but with Gnome started up it just beeps with I type, and does not output any text to the screen in any of the programs I have tried.

I was logged in as a regular user when it happened, but it did work fine when I logged out and then logged in as root. Well, it worked that way once and now root gets a garbled display when Gnome starts.

I tried different USB keyboard ( the original is logitech Elite Wireless Keyboard ), and it has the same problem. Btw, the mouse works fine still, only the keyboard stopped working correctly. Both keyboards ( original and test ) work on another RHFC1 system and also on my Windows XP system, so the problem is with XWindows/Gnome. I would like to try switching Desktop Manager to KDE and see if that helps, but I don't know how to switch it from the command line.

Any Ideas?

If KDE is installed, you should be able to start it by typing:

startkde

THe Anwer

The problem was that the accessibility feature was turned on, messing with the keyboard. Turning it off fixed everything.
