kde dialogue box for auto mount in fluxbox?

Hi.I've recently been running Fluxbox on Slackware 12 and although I like it very much,I do miss the kde automount dialog box that pops up when it finds a new cd,usb stick etc.Anyone know if its possible to have this happen in Fluxbox and if so how to configure it?Cheers.

This is not possible. There are probably other methods of automounting in fluxbox, and on my zenwalk (Slackware based) stuff get automounted with fluxbox. The difference between DE (Desktop enviornment) and WM (window manager) is the lack of extra funktionality. A wm got one task, managing windows, while a DE manage windows, and supply tools for various tasks, like automounting, file browsing, configure system/looks/etc, eitors and more.

Thanks for the reply.Although I do know the difference between a Window manager and a Desktop environment. It is a pity if auto mount doesnt work in Fluxbox as its easy to set up and edit.Oh yeah and its fast.Cheers.

Hi,

Something exactly like kde doesn't exist for fluxbox, at least that someone here know some script however, you could have some 'auto-mount' support in fluxbox using ivman, you won't get a window showing you options like kde's automonter, but, still you'll have devices mounted automatically, not really sure about media CD/DVDs, but shouldn't be a problem with USBs.

If you don't like that option, then, you'll have to depend of a file manager like xfe, pcmanfm or thunar (+thunar-volman), but, hey won't actually won't show up a window like KDE, just will give you easy access with two clicks to mount your devices.

Regards
