k3b: "error decoding audio tracks" and "could not unlock cd driver"

[Log in to get rid of this advertisement]
For some reason k3b is suddenly not working. I've not done any updates or package changes.

I open it to burn a comp cd, click on the folder containing the *.wav files I have ripped from cds that I use as my data base for making compilations, but it won't open the folder - whaa!?

So I open the folder via the "home" icon. I click & drag the desired files from the "home" folder into k3b, complete the track list, click burn and shortly thereafter I get an error saying, "error in decoding audio tracks" and "could not unlock cd driver".

This problem is recent; been able to use the program smoothly up until today. What went wrong? And why can't k3b open my music folder?

I ran k3b setup and it didn't change anything. These are *.wav files that I have ripped and I can hear (play) them so I know that they're valid files...

Sounds like a media problem... I had the same issue burning audio CD's with K3b. It will burn my Fuji disks but I get the same error as you when I try to burn using Sony CDR's. Try a diff media manufacture if you have recently tried new media. Otherwise try lowering the burn rate...

OK so you have the .wav files... I assumed you were trying to burn audio format CD's if you just want to copy the .wav files to cd then you would just need to create a data CD.

The question? You have the .wav format already on your HD... What do you want on the CD, .wav or audio?
