K3B DVD Copy fails if I'm not root

Hi *!
I'm getting that error:

**************************************************************************************************** *
System
-----------------------
K3b Version:0.11.18
KDE Version: 3.3.1
QT Version: 3.3.3

growisofs
-----------------------
Executing 'builtin_dd if=/dev/fd/0 of=/dev/ide/host0/bus1/target1/lun0/cd obs=32k seek=0'
:-[ MODE SELECT failed with SK=Fh/ASC=FFh/ASCQ=FFh ]

growisofs comand:
-----------------------
/usr/bin/growisofs -Z /dev/ide/host0/bus1/target1/lun0/cd=/dev/fd/0 -use-the-force-luke=notray -use-the-force-luke=tty -dvd-compat -speed=4 -overburn
**************************************************************************************************** *

When I try to copy a DVD with K3B as a simple user.
growiso is 5.13
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 53260 Jul 25 2004 /usr/bin/growisofs

If I do as root everithing is fine... may be it's due to permission problem?

I've noticed a quite strange call to growisofs: wat means
"-Z /dev/ide/host0/bus1/target1/lun0/cd=/dev/fd/0"
where:
/dev/ide/host0/bus1/target1/lun0/cd is my DVD writer... BUT
/dev/fd/0 is /dev/pts/3
is it correct?!?

Thanks in advance,
Patrick

floppy drive

I am not totally sure, but I think fd/0 is the floppy drive. That's weird. What distro do you use?

Thanks AwesomeMachine... but I're wrong.
As I've said in my previous post /dev/fd/0 in my GENTOO is a symlink to /dev/pts/3

Really this is quite naife!... ?!?

Bho! ?

I'm open to correction on this but I think that by default, write permission to optical drives may be denied to any non-root user? I know that when I burn cds with k3b I have to be root, assumed this was the reason (think I read it somewhere ages back).

NO!... I'm able to burn CD-ROM as user... only DVD copy require root permissions!

Is a growisofs permission problem?!?
