k3b defunct process on kubuntu with kernel 2.6.17-10-generic

When I try to start k3b on kubuntu (just installed) I get the following:

yoyar@lazyd0g:~$ ps aux|grep k3b
yoyar 4787 0.0 0.6 32980 12872 ? D 20:01 0:00 k3b -session 10d091e179000116657615700000049620030_1166576157_592746

yoyar@lazyd0g:~$ uname -a
Linux lazyd0g 2.6.17-10-generic #2 SMP Tue Dec 5 22:28:26 UTC 2006 i686 GNU/Linux

yoyar@lazyd0g:~$ k3b -v
Qt: 3.3.6
KDE: 3.5.5
K3b: 0.12.17

What's also weird is that when I tried the live kubuntu cd, everything worked fine. But once I installed everything, k3b is borked.

I did let the updater run before I started k3b. Maybe it is a newer version of k3b that doesn't work properly?

Anyway, I've searched alot, and haven't found any answers. I really would like k3b to work properly.

Anyone have this problem?

Thanks,
m.
