We've been running K12 Linux Terminal Server/ Fedora and are trying to customize the "startmenu" for new users but can't get it right.

We copied the dir "skel", customized it and called it skel2, when using the command adduser -m -k /etc/skel2 it creates the .kde in the new users homedir with the files from /etc/skel2. But when the new user opens the startmenu it puts the missing dirs back again.

How do you customize the startmenu so you ie just have a couple of links and not everyone by default.

Hi.

I don't know if this is what you're looking for, but there's a 'default' directory that KDE uses to give everyone a base set of K menu entries. It's at

/var/lib/menu/kde/Applications/ on my RedHat box.

You could try removing entries in that directory, and see what options are available to new users (or old users when you remove their .kde directory).
