It's unclear to me which functionality you refer to. Recovered images being corrupted usually means files where fragmented so it's just been carved from file header until the next file boundary which means unrelated information gets trapped in the file or not all parts could be found for reassembly. If you want to try other recovery tools you could try Photorec or foremost. You'll find them on the HELIX CD.
