Just what has installing netscape got to do with java applications???

It would help if you told us what wasn't working. Kinda like that bit in HitchHikers Guide maybe... the answer is 42.. but if you don't know the question....

What error messages are there? Do you get that far?

Redhat 7.1 had a problem with java, requiring LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.2.15 to be set globally. If your classpath is set correctly you should have no problems really, but well... can;t really say more than that...

Well if it says it can't find java then the java bin directory can't be on your path.

try something like

PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/jdk1.3.1/bin

assuming that is the location of the java executables

as far as netscape goes, if you've simply installed the full java stuff, it won't autoatically be installed in netscape.

in the ......./jdk1.3.1/jre/plugins/i386/ns600 directory there should be a file called libjavaplugin_oji.so

this file needs to be linked (ln -s) to the netscape plugin directory on your system.
