Is upgrading Mint 13 to Mint 14 from a DVD-iso possible?

I have installed Mint 13 and downloaded the .iso of Mint 14, which is now on hard disk and can also be started from an USB-stick. I mounted the iso via
Code:
 mount -o loop,rw /home/me/mint14 /mnt
and looked for individual files, but no luck. There is a huge squashfs file probably containing all those nice new updated programs in compressed form. Is there any possibility to start Mint 13 and upgrade from the .iso? How would I do that? Thanks for an input .

As far as I know and seen (in the forums), Mint does not support upgrades using CD/DVD media.

Nevertheless, the two 'official' linux mint upgrade methods are in these links

See if either of these are of any help. Cheers.

Thanks for these very instructive links. Regrettably the recommended procedure overwrites all settings and users / passwords. I could live with that but...

I don't want to use "apt" since I have only mobile internet.

Is there no possibility to decompress the squashfs file and to update from there? I have a 1 TB hard disk, there is plenty of space there .
