Question is it possible to install mandrake too many times?


Well I have installed and uninstalled mandrake several times for one reason or another prolly around 20 times or so. now i cant get it to install at all. it either wont complete or its missing something important... like the boot file lol btw i am using linx4win if that helps any
i am thinking my copy has become corrupt.
any ideas?

I don't think there is a limit, unless your machine is just simply tired of you installing it over and over..
Try doing a low level format with fdisk or something then try to reinstall and if that doesn't work, maybe you did wear out the disk.

got it workin kinda sorta

ok i did a scan disk and defrag and lo and behold it worked lo thats allways one of the first thng i tell ppl when they are havin a prob with any software in windows, and since I am basically installing in windows i just took my own advice. the only thing is now i cant get X configured i have tried every option both in Xconfigurator and xfr86config. oh well i will play around with it some more later. will just give me a chance to learn lol

Forgot your installing over or inside of Windows so a format would do no good only in wiping out all your windows files...
not sure on the X, i have had trouble or seen trouble when configuring X within windows like in VMware or something like that.

hhhmmmm ok

ok well i will probably just wait untill i get my new system (hopefully it wont be long they have been tellin me a few more days a while now lol) that way i can make sure it is compatible from the get go. the only problem is the guy thats building it doesnt like linux at all but i am not giving up at all. I will get it straightened out eventually if it kills me or this puter but i do know i am not going to uninstall and reinstall again. not gonna risk it again and just play with it until it works
