irq routing problem

i just got a new mobo and every version of linux ive installed always gives me irq routing errors on bootup. someone replied to another post that i posted and gae me a web site adressing a simliar problem. it also provided a patch that may fix it. my question is if i dont patch it will it make my system slower or anything? ive got my system running ho i want to and dont want to do anything else to it but if patching it would make it faste then i shall do it. i think the website said it was a problem with newer mother boards. i will post a link to it if i can find it again. thanks in advance for any help

"my question is if i dont patch it will it make my system slower or anything?"

There is a flaw in the basic design of PCs that there are not enough IRQs. Linux (and any other operating system) fixes the problem by stacking more than one device per IRQ and then sorting out the interrupts as they occur. If your IRQ routing is working then I advise you not to open that can of worms. Any performance enhancements that you might get would be small, if in fact performance did not go the wrong way.
