i installed on my xp-pc virtualbox and ubuntu8.04-server, but i cant get internet access. The xp-pc is getting static ip. Should i give this ip-number manually to ubuntu?
You need to learn the choices for how a virtual machine can connect. They have 4 choices. Choices are bridged, nat, local and not connected.
I tend to use nat and there is a virtual router inside virtualbox and provided an ip range that offers a dhcp address but you still need to use a dns server.
See the documentation for virtualbox about networking or even vmplayer, basically same issues.
