Talking Instant Messaging Programs

Hello everyone!
I'm a new Linux user, currently running Xandros 2.0 and about to experiment with Mepis and Libranet. I'm looking for an Instant messaging program that will integrate with Yahoo, MSN etc. Kopete was included with Xandros but it hasn't worked properly with Yahoo integration(Perhaps because of new Yahoo protocols) It tells me my password is incorrect a couple of trys before crashing. Does anyone know of another IM that will work with any of the above Distros?
Thanks for your help.

Try GAIM, it supports Yahoo!, MSN, AIM, Jabber, etc.

Thanks krimson!
I'm a complete newb to Linux so forgive me if my Q's are simple.I'm wondering what version of GAIM to download.....Source? The other versions are for Windows or are .rpm's and my distros are .deb based. Also if you could tell me how to install it that would be great.
Thanks again

Get the source, latest version is 0.79. Just use the following commands to download and install:

Code:
wget http://aleron.dl.sourceforge.net/sou...im-0.79.tar.gz
tar -zxf gaim-0.79.tar.gz
cd gaim-0.79
./configure
make
make install (as root)
To run the app just type 'gaim'.

Thanks Krimson.
I was just reading in the Xandros forums that the Debian version of yahoo works on Xandros(which makes sense as it is based on Deb)..so I think I will try that first since I also read that Yahoo keeps changing its protocols to block IM integrators like Gaim,Trillian,Kopete etc.
Thanks for your help....have a good day

There's also an msn close called aMSN which is really good:http://amsn.sourceforge.ne

As far as it concerns ICQ, I found two programs here:
