Angry Installing .src.rpm


On RH9? how do i do this >?

i try to installed a .src.rpm like this:

rpm -ivh filename.src.rpm and i get this

error: cannot create %sourcedir /usr/src/redhat/SOURCES

im i missing something ?

funny. are you root? (silly question, but i really can't do better this time, sorry )

cause, it really should not be so, if you know what i mean.

yes im root ... and i dont understand what you are trying to say. your post makes no sence

rpm -ivh foo.src.rpm will 'extract' the source to /usr/src/redhat/. u need to have write permisisons to that destination to build the binary package and then u need to have root privelges to install it.

if u are impatient, just run this as root:

rpmbuild -bb foo.src.rpm

and then look for the appropriate binary rpm file in /usr/src/redhat/RPMS/(could be i386, i686, noarch....).

Try this:

rpmbuild --rebuild *.src.rpm
