Installing problems with Suse 9.0

Hello,
I am running Suse 9.0, and trying to install a upgrade to GAIM .67, but whenever try to type ./configure, and let it run... I get the error that the is gtk is the wrong version. When I try to install the new version. I get a error message about pkgconfig is not found. I updated the pkgconfig to 0.15.0, and still getting the same error with any program that I install.

What should I check, or change???

haha that always happens to me too. It is looking for a SPECIFIC version of GTK. Apparently, a newer version is out of the question...

Like stupiddependency = 2.1.6.4.8 needed for dumbRPM

It would be nice if there were stupiddependency >= 2.1.6.4.8 which allows that version and newer...

So how do I fix this problem?? Do I need to add something, so the while installing??
