installing newest transmission on lucid


I have ubuntu lucid installed on my system which the official package of transmission is version 1.95 but there are features in the newer version (2.33) I require. Is it even possible or do i need to get a new version of ubuntu

You could install from source.

I tried this but on configure it says it cannot located OpenSSL even though it is installed
