Angry Installing Mandrake 9

Hi,
I am trying to install mandrake 9 (Linux) in one of my hard drives. After I boot from the cdrom, the window to install the os will appear and I will press enter as directed. Immediately, I receive many messeages and the system stall at hda: this will blink for about 10 minutes and this other message will appear hda:spurious 8259A Interupt: IRQ7.
Please, what can I do to fix this problem and install Mandrake 9. I am running w2k on my slave hard drive. Thank you.

why is w2k running as slave? (im assuming its your main hdd) Try setting the jumpers to master and and your second hd to slave.

Thank you Chris. I have tried that method of making w2k the master and the other hdd the slave and it did not work. My major concern now is why the IRQ7 error message when installing Mandrake 9. Thank you and feel to offer me any suggestions to this fix. Elko911

I maybe able to offer some help in this win2k / mandrake 9 since that is exactly what i am running.

you probably have already tried this but....

you need that win2k as master there isn't 2 ways about it. then reinstall the win2k (hda) then the mandrake 9 (hdc). if you set it to master without reinstalling it won't fly. atleast it wasn't for me. mandrake detects the win2k as master and win2k needs the mbr thingamagigger so make sure you do it in the right order. time consuming yes... the end result will end in success.

Installing Mandrake 9

Hi Chingasman,
Thank you very much for your response to my problems with installing mandrake 9. However, I have tied that in the past and it did not work. I have an error message: spurious 8259A interupt:IRQ7. If I get some help with this error message, I will appreciate it. Thank you.

Make sure the root / partition is set as a primary partition and that your second hard dirve is plugged in properly.
