I don't know anything about the version in the apt-get repository, but I've managed to install the official version from www.adobe.com on Ubuntu without any issues. It certainly installed a lot easier than what you're trying to do.
hand of fate: I have tried to install from the adobe site, but after downloading,ERROR: the extraction was refused because there was not a installer in the program. I would appreciate if you could tell me how you did it.

Strange error message. I've never heard of extraction ever being "refused".
Have you tried the .deb package from Adobe? I can't remember whether it was the tar.gz or the .deb version I used, but the .deb should be easier to install.
