Unhappy Installed Xebian on my xbox but I can't acees any files from Cdrom or hard drive.

I recently bought a Smart xx v3 modchip for my xbox. It came with a xebian linux cd. I used that cd to install xebian (not sure what version). The install went fine, I rebooted my xbox and loaded xebian under fatx partition. My problem is when I try to look at the contents of my hard drive or try to access a disk or hell even if I try to open files, I get the same error "permission denied" I figure this is a system administration issue however I have no option to log in, in the first place let alone log in as the system administrator... I used the command line and typed in "su" and then used "login" but it asked me for a password that I dont have and didn't set up. This is very frustrating as this means the only thing i can really do with linux is play little desktop games... thats really all Linux lets me do... Its like it wont let me conrtol it how I wnant to, it seems to have a mind of its own telling ME what I can and cannot do... anywase if you are reading this with intent to respond I greatly appreceiate it as I cannot find help anwere else...

There are Xebian mailing lists. Debian seems very keen on mailing lists!

Or see: http://www.xbox-linux.org/wiki/Xebian_HOWTO

There's only so much you can do with a linux machine that doesn't have a keyboard You may be able to fit it up with a remote and use it as a media player with something like freevo or geexbox installed.

But if you want to go in that direction you might be better off with the (unfortunately non-linux) Xbox Media Center (XBMC) which you can install on a modded xbox. It is really excellent. That's what the old xbox in this house is doing.
