Installed Python 2.6 & 2.7 but GTK only works on 2.6?

I have installed Python 2.6 (yum) and 2.7 (complied make altinstall) on CentOS 6.4. PyGTK only works on Python 2.6. I tried pip-2.7 install PyGTK, but it doesn't seem to do anything. Just sits unresponsive. Any ideas on how I can link PyGTK to 2.7?

before you go any farther
make sure you did not kill yum by building 2.7 from source

a VERY REAL possibility
Code:
su -
yum update

No, I didn't screw up that bad. Yum works fine. I knew what I was doing when I installed it a few months back, but forgot to install PyGTK at the time, and I can't get it to install using pip, or anything. I assume there's a way to link the libs for pygtk. It's in /usr/lib64, but for some reason python2.7 doesn't see it.
