You either don't have GCC installed, or it's not in your path.

A "gcc install" is usable only if 'glibc-devel'
is installed ( name in Debian = 'libc6-dev' )

Regards

Please try with 'apt-get install libmysqlclient1x-dev'
where "1x" means ..10..12..14..15.., there are in fact
4 different packages in the repo, Debian Etch.

Also see 'synaptic'

Regards

Debian Etch ?? ...http-2.29 compiles with no errors.

Compiled with 'uuid-dev' and 'libmysqlclient15-dev'
using ""gcc version 4.1.2 20061115 (prerelease) (Debian 4.1.1-21)""

If you are still having errors, please show, including
10 lines before the error is described.

Regards
