install problem ./configure no acceptable C compiler

Hi there guys

Iam trying to install a program. I had a *.tar.bz2 I extracted it using tar jxvf . After that I entered the created directory and typed ./configure as root. The problem I face is that I get the following error:

checking for gcc... no
checking for cc... no
checking for cc... no
checking for cl... no
configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH

It seems that I have to set of the path of the C compiler...any ideas ???

Do you have GCC installed? Issue
Code:
gcc -v
in a terminal to see the response.
