Install 32 bit Linux VMWare Horizon client & how to edit a .bundle file [bash script executable (binary file)

Hi there,

I was trying to install VMWare's Horizon client for 32 bit linux (benefits include being able to use local storage) https://customerconnect.vmware.com/e...ents/horizon_8and it didn't work due to Python 3.3+ moving Callable to Collections.abc from Collections - this was in the log.

It is now not supported by VMWare since 2021.

I was wondering if anyone one knows how to edit a .bundle file [bash script executable (binary file) so I could see if modifying python files would make it work.

Alternatively, is there a way to use a particular version of Python?

That's assuming if just updating Python files will make it work

Thanks

I don't know what OS is it, I guess you can install older python versions, yes.

Might be able to edit the file so I can extract the files first.
Then edit the extracted files.
Then edit the script to install.

Using Q4OS based on Debian bookworm. Managed to use a $variable to stop files being deleted. But what I don't get

find it weird when using*VMIS_KEEP_TEMP=true to install the script and keep extracted files, I find the bash script vmware-installer mentions python 3.6. However, this seems to suggest that the code wouldn't have worked under python 3.6 and wasn't tested for it re Callable being moved in re Collections in Python 3.3

I needed to install VMWare Horizon client on my Slackware system at the start of COVID lockdown for working from home.
I did look at a Slackbuild but ended up just downloading the Linux tarball version and playing with that until I got it working.

The Slackbuild was out of date then and has never been updated. There is a vmware-bundle.eclass file that is used by the Slackbuild for extracting components from the bundle that might help.

I did not have to deal with any Python issues back then. Times may well have moved on. I certainly have as I do not need VMWare Horizon client any longer.

Persistence will repay. Good luck.
