I'm very happy with my linux and seriously don't want to use windows at all. The problem is that I do need some software which only runs on windows. I have replaced almost all windows software with similar open source releases but I do need Alias studio tools and Sibelius 3 and they don't work with wine. I've tried all the similar softwares available for linux but I think none of them can replace these two.
One (probably the only?) solution I know is to use vmware but I'm not sure howto I install windows without messing my already installed Gentoo. Hmm.. If I'm using vmware I don't actually have to boot in startup to windows and therefore change my grub settings, right? So what if I take my primary hdd away and install windows XP on another hdd. Then I would change my linux hdd back primary and put windows hdd in slave. Could this work? Other suggestions?

That is exactly what I prefer to do.
You just need to check out the map-drive option of either Lilo or Grub to have the bootloader tell Windows the drives are the other way around when it boots.

I assumed:
"If I'm using vmware I don't actually have to boot in startup to windows and therefore change my grub settings, right?"
was one question, and:
"So what if I take my primary hdd away and install windows XP on another hdd. Then I would change my linux hdd back primary and put windows hdd in slave. Could this work?
was a seperate question."
One about VMWare and the other not.
Perhaps I am mistaken.
I didn't know that you can install XP through vmware. Maybe I check other options too for windows emulation. Thanks for the help.
Sorry about my first post. English isn't my mother language and I was a bit tired too. Booting XP through vmware is my main goal.
