Ok, so here is an odd question. I currently have an account with wix.com to make my website.
They have an awesome awesome html editor and i am wondering what "engine" it is using and if there is something i can use offline as a stand alone editor that is very very comparable to it?
go check it out and you will see what i mean. I want to be able to build pages based off same software they use but not online because sometimes i am not coneected to internet.
It is using the rendering engine of your browser I think. (but I am only guessing)
I think that's what you should do too. Setup a LAMP system, take an html editor like geany, write your html and watch the results in different browsers directed at your localhost. With an own http server you can even take a look at the site from windows/IE.
Distribution: Debian Wheezy, Jessie, Sid/Experimental, playing with LFS.

I write mine and put them in a dedicated dropbox folder. That way I can check them on any PC my dropbox is on (Windows and Linux) with a variety of browsers.
With regards to a HTML editor just open up the package manager in whatever version of Linux you use and search HTML and it will bring up a few. You can use Gedit, Pluma, Kate, Leafpad, Geany, bluefish and many more.
