How to to instal VLC on Suse 10.2


How are you girls and guys get medie files to play on linux like music, video and dvd and more i can only get pls internet radio files and cd to play on my suse 10.2 instalation any of you who can give the total guide to instal vlc Successful and maybe other codecs as well???

Add the VLC-Repository to your installation source:
http://en.opensuse.org/Additional_Ya...ideoLan_Client

Then you can install VLC via yast. If you want to play DVDs you should also install libdvdcss.

I get this error message

Unknown Error: Downloading metadata failed (is YUM source?) or user did not accept remote source. Aborting refresh.

The link just redirected to the page of the opensuse wiki that points you to the proper source.
In "Yast -> Change Installation Source" you can just paste this link in the Via URL field.
Afterwards go to Yast -> Install Software and select the packages vlc and libdvdcss for install.

Sorry, I fergot theproper link. Just use the URL source type and paste http://download.videolan.org/pub/vlc/SuSE/10.2.

I got it to work now thanks Marix i also instal libdvdcss but i still can`t play dvd please help me?

How do i Enable DMA on my DVD/CD drive it is a NEC DVD+RW ND 2100 AD? On the site below they recommend you to do that.


Make sure the DMA is enabled for your DVD-ROM, otherwise playback will be 'jumpy'.
