How to tell yum not to update something

Does anybody know how to instruct YUM not to update a package? Specifically, YUM keeps wanting to update libsigc-1.2 to whatever the latest version is. I happen to need the 1.2 version becasue Inkscape will not work without it. I do have the latest libsigc installed, as well.

I know where the config file is, but I thought there was some sort of command line option that you could pass to exclude certain packages.... Nothing obvious in man yum.

I am not 100% sure, but I do think you need to edit that file

You could try something like this, I'm not sure if it will work because I've never had to exclude any packages:
yum update --exclude package_name

Let us know if this works

Well, it didn't like the order you suggested. However, when i switched update and --exclude, it worked, somewhat. The package wasn't excluded. I just stopped updating from the ATRPMS repository, and it stopped wanting to update the package. Not exactly the solution I had hoped for, but whatever.
